Overview
Often problems with successfully delivering IT projects is a symptom of an inefficient ICT value chain. An assessment of the ICT value chain can mitigate and reduce risk in ICT projects. Athdown seeks opportunities to improve ICT processes and tooling so that they are aligned to your organisational strategic and tactical objectives.
Solution Approach
We assess your organisation’s ICT value chain using four categories. In each of the four categories we seek to understand and evaluate the associated processes, people and policies.
Not all value chain categories are always reviewed. In our initial consultation we generally are able to narrow the focus of our assessment to one of the four categories shown.

During a portfolio management assessment we review how the organisational strategic and/or tactical objectives are added to the IT portfolio. We recognise that every organisation is different and portfolio management may not be a matured capability. As an output we seek opportunities and recommend on how to streamline governance and programme related process efficiencies.
When completing a Systems architecture assessment we seek to understand how business requirements are transformed into systems design architecture. Processes related to requirement management and systems analysis & design are reviewed and the appropriate recommendations for improvements are made.
With a Systems development assessment we review systems engineering practises. Athdown, depending on the organisation context, will make recommendations for improvements based on systems engineering and development operations (devops) processes assessments.
During the IT operational assessments we make recommendations on how systems can be better supported, monitored and maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: We have a small ICT development capability, can we still make use of the ICT value chain assessment service?
A: Yes, most definitely. We consider at which maturity curve your ICT organisation is and make recommendations accordingly.
Q: What can be done to get faster results from an assessment?
A: Prepare for our initial engagement by highlighting the problem areas you’d like to address in your ICT organisation. By documenting the various problem statements it will allow the Athdown consultant to identify potential root causes and the ability to focus our assessments.
Q: What would the consulting service cost?
A: The ICT value chain assessment service consultation is billed on a time and materials used basis. Consulting rates are influenced by the length of time spent working on the business assignment and the level of specialist skills required.
Q: How do we get started?
A: Contact Athdown for an obligation free consultation. In this engagement we seek to understand the organisation’s expectations and areas of concern. We will create a proposal for your review and if accepted will enter into a contract based on the agreed scope of work.
